The best way to begin to understand what it is like to live in Afghanistan is to know the lives of those there, to hear the stories of their past and listen to their dreams for their future. It is the same for understanding people in Africa and even for Baltimore. And once we start to understand the people that share our planet with us, maybe we can start to make the radical changes in our lives to stand for human rights, end war, stop the spread and stigma of HIV/AIDS, and live in a more sustainable manner.
I want to spend my time traveling to learn of other’s experiences and to share them through various forms of media. My studies in Filmmaking and Anthropology have given me the skills needed to do this and I gained experience working for two years traveling in Africa and three years collaborating with an activist from Afghanistan.
Now it is time to seek and create more opportunities.
